Johann Adolf von Korff called Schmising (* 1619 ; † August 3, 1678 ) was a canon in the Principality of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Adolf von Korff grew up as the son of Heinrich von Korff called Schmising zu Tatenhausen (1583–1665, Canon in Minden) and his wife Sybilla von Wendt zu Holtfeld (1589–1666) together with his brothers Otto Heinrich (cathedral provost in Münster), Kaspar Heinrich and Matthias in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Korff .

Career and work

With the receipt of the cathedral temple in Minden and the tonsure by the Bishop of Osnabrück , Johann Adolf was prepared for a spiritual position. He studied canon law in Rome . In 1651 he received a prebend in Münster by papal ordinance . After studying in Paris, he was ordained a subdeacon on May 2, 1664 and also received the minor ordinations . On December 31, 1665, he asked for a funeral for his deceased father in Münster Cathedral , where his brother, the Provost Otto Heinrich, was also buried. The cathedral chapter met the request. On July 1, 1666 he became provost of St. Mauritz in Münster . Johann Adolf was a member of both the Catharine Brotherhood and the Great Kaland .
