Johann Anton Kobrich

Johann Joseph Anton Bernhard Kobrich (baptized May 30, 1714 in Landsberg am Lech ; † August 9, 1791 ibid) was a German organist and composer .

Life

The son of the organist of the parish church in Landsberg, Maximilian Adam Kobrich († 1730), succeeded him at the age of 16 and held this position until his death. After his wife died in 1782, he turned to theology and was ordained a priest.

He wrote a lot of piano and organ works, as well as masses , litanies and Vespers . Many of his works were printed in Nuremberg and Augsburg and achieved a high distribution in Central and Eastern Europe.

The only son, born in 1735, continued the organist tradition at the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche .
