Johann Bätz

Johann Heinrich Hartmann Bätz (born January 1, 1709 in Frankenroda , † December 13, 1770 in Utrecht ) was a German-Dutch organ builder .

Life

Bätz was born in Frankenroda / Thuringia in 1709 . Until 1733 he learned the organ building trade with Johann Christoph Thielemann in Gotha. He then moved to the Netherlands, where he was employed by Christian Müller to build the organ in St. Bavo's Church (Haarlem) . In 1739 he opened his own workshop in Utrecht . He created sixteen organs by his death in 1770. He started a family of organ builders who built around 60 church organs in the Netherlands .
