Johann Böhme (sculptor)
Johann Böhme , also Johann Böhm (born February 18, 1595 in Hartenstein (Saxony) , † 1667 in Schneeberg ) was a German sculptor .
Life
After training in Magdeburg , he worked in a sculptor's workshop in Schneeberg in the Ore Mountains . His students include his son Johann Heinrich Böhme and Melchior Barthel .
Works
Johann Böhme created several tombs in Schneeberg , Zwickau and the surrounding area as well as several altars for Protestant churches in the Upper Ore Mountains. Are known from his workshop u. a .:
- around 1640: Engel, today in the Municipal Museum in Zwickau
- 1653: Crucifix in the Church of Our Lady in Neustädtel (Schneeberg)
- 1653: Altar (and pulpit?) In the church in Großolbersdorf
