The LW 08 is a 2D long-range air surveillance radar on board medium-sized and large ships. The LW 08 transmits in the D-band and is also available with an inexpensive solid-state power amplifier as a transmitter output stage. The antenna is mounted on a light turntable that is hydraulically stabilized in pitching and rolling.

The LW 08 air reconnaissance radar devices from Thales are installed on German frigates of the "Brandenburg" class ( F123 ) and achieve a range of 260 km for targets with an effective reflection area of 2 m².
