Johann Caspar Lindenberg (born July 9, 1740 in Lübeck ; † April 28, 1824 there ) was a mayor of Lübeck .

Life

Lindenberg studied law at the universities of Jena , Leipzig and Gießen . In Giessen he was awarded a Dr. PhD in both rights. Just like Gabriel Christian Lembke (1759), Adolph Friedrich Dehns and Carl Abraham Gütschow (1761), he joined the Masonic lodge Zu den Drei Rosen in Jena in 1761 ; In 1762 he became a member of the Jena chapter Zion of the Clermont-Rosaschen system of high degrees.

He was elected to the council of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in 1786. In 1805 he elected Lindenberg to be one of the four mayors . His term of office was marked by the French period in Lübeck, which began in 1806 . In 1811 he was for a short time at the head of the administrative commission of the provisional municipal council. His epitaph with a Latin inscription can be found on the east wall of the southern vestibule of Lübeck's Marienkirche . He had 20 children from three marriages. Johann Bernhard Wilhelm Lindenberg and Johann Carl Lindenberg were his sons. His daughter Luise Charlotte married Carl Geibel (1803–1863), a son of Johannes Geibel and brother of Emanuel Geibel .
