Johann Caspar Westphal

Johann Caspar Westphal (born November 28, 1649 in Rügenwalde , Pomerania , † March 24, 1722 in Delitzsch ) was a city physician in Delitzsch and a member of the “ Leopoldina ” academy of scholars .

Life

Johann Caspar Westphal studied medicine. He received his doctorate from the University of Erfurt in 1678. He was initially a city physician in Mittweida in Saxony. He later became a city physician in Delitzsch and Bitterfeld and also worked as a writer. He was a student of Michael Ettmüller , whose work he edited.

On August 12, 1690, Johann Caspar Westphal, nicknamed ALBUCASES I, was accepted into the Leopoldina as a member ( matriculation no. 182 ) .
