Johann Christoph Coht
Johann Christoph Coht (born April 14, 1760 ; † July 25, 1821 in Lübeck ) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Life
Coht was the son of Berend Hinrich Coht, merchant and bailiff in Windau . As the oldest of the Lübeck mountain drivers , he was elected to the Lübeck council in 1802. As councilor, he accompanied Christian Adolph Overbeck and Johann Friedrich Hach to the city's embassies several times . In the Lübeck French period he was Lübeck municipal councilor . When a chamber of commerce was established by Napoleon's imperial decree in 1812, Coht was appointed president. In 1813 he rejoined the council. His Lübeck fortune was confiscated by the French because he was staying in Dresden . His house at Königstrasse 5 and its furniture was spared because it was used as an apartment by the French commandant St. Bias at the time. Coht worked in the Senate at the bet , at the higher court, in the finance department, in the forest department and in the Commerzdeputation.
His first marriage was to Johanna Catharina Krück and his second marriage to a daughter of the mayor of Lübeck, Gabriel Christian Lembke . His estate is in the archive of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck .
