Johann Conrad Krüger (born January 6, 1733 in Stettin , † April 25, 1791 in Berlin ) was a German engraver and portrait painter .

Krüger studied painting in Berlin with Thomas Huber , then in Dresden with Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich and Charles Hutin . In 1756 he went to Poland , where he dealt with portrait painting. Then he worked again in Stettin until he was appointed professor of drawing at the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1777 .

Johann Conrad Krüger painted in oil , pastel and watercolor . He also created many portrait copperplate engravings based on the models of other artists, including Paul Joseph Bardou , Josef Kreutzinger , Bernhard Rode , Johann Christian August Schwartz and Johann Ludwig Strecker .

He should not be confused with the drawing teacher at the Friedrichswerder Gymnasium in Berlin , Johann Conrad Sigismund Krüger (1726–1790) from Anhalt-Zerbst .
