Johann Daniel Müller (theologian)
Johann Daniel Müller (born May 22, 1721 in Allendorf an der Lumda , † April 30, 1794 in Rinteln ) was a German university professor and one of the most enthusiastic theologians of the late Baroque period .
Live and act
As the son of the rector of the Allendorfer Stadtschule, later rector in Alsfeld and later preacher in Nidda , Johann Heinrich Müller, and his wife Anne Catharine, daughter of Allendorfer councilor Johann Michael Bergen, Johann Daniel first attended the Allendorfer, then the Alsfeld school, before marriage In 1737 he moved to the university in Giessen . After completing his studies in ancient languages, mathematics, philosophy and theology, he first became rector of the city school in Allendorf and adjunct in the preaching office of his relative, the pastor Leonhard Bergen. 1743 doctorate he pouring in for Dr. phil. and a year later he applied for a vacant professorship at the university there, which he was denied due to his age - he was only 23 years old. In 1749 he became a member of the Royal German Society in Göttingen . After the death of his relative in 1750, he moved into his position as a real Perdiger in Allendorf. Contrary to expectations, he was appointed second theological professor at the University of Rinteln in 1768 and received the theological doctorate of Dr. theol. After the death of his predecessor Schwarz in Rinteln, he was appointed to his first theological professorship on December 15, 1787.
Müller was first married (1745–1753) to Friederike Charlotte, daughter of the preacher Johann Friedrich Schmidtborn , and from 1754 in his second marriage to (probably) a cousin of his first wife, Anna Sophie, daughter of the administrator Gottfried Wilhelm Schmidtborn. Friedrich Christoph Müller
comes from his first marriage. He studied theology and mathematics in Rinteln and Göttingen and became a famous theologian and cartographer . The second marriage resulted in a total of eight children, of which two daughters and two sons reached adulthood.
