Johann Daniel Ramberg
Johann Daniel Ramberg (born November 17, 1732 in Fallersleben , † October 14, 1820 in Hanover ) was a German architect and painter .
Life
Johann Daniel Ramberg was the son of a bailiff . With Sophie Margarethe Gerstenberg (1739–1811), the daughter of the clothing maker and guard soldier Friedrich Gerstenberg in Hameln, he had the son and later painter Johann Heinrich Ramberg .
After studying law at the University of Göttingen , he became secretary in the war chancellery of the Electorate of Hanover in 1761 . He later rose to the position of Commerce Councilor and Court and Privy Councilor of Justice.
The art lover and collector, who also painted himself, taught his son Johann Heinrich Ramberg to draw and paint in such a way that he was considered a “child prodigy” from an early age.
Johann Daniel Ramberg designed the Leibniz Temple, which was built between 1787 and 1790 .
Ramberg was in correspondence with Georg Christoph Lichtenberg .
Ramberg's grave with the inscription “Served under three kings” is in the garden cemetery in Hanover.
