Johann Esel (born December 17, 1900 in Höflein near Bruck an der Leitha , Lower Austria ; † January 15, 1987 Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

After attending primary school , Johann Esel was trained as a farmer at the agricultural vocational school. From February 1918 he took part in the First World War with the Austrian 84th Infantry Regiment . After just a few weeks he was taken prisoner of war in Italy in South Tyrol .

On April 20, 1932, Esel was elected to the district chamber of farmers of the NSDAP. In the Austria of the Dollfuss and Schuschnigg governments , Esel was convicted of working in the illegal NSDAP.

After the German invasion of Austria in March 1938, Esel officiated as a district farmer leader. In addition, he sat from April 1938 until his premature retirement on March 23, 1941 as a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for Austria . The reason for his resignation was a party court case: Esel was charged with providing the Austrian authorities with information about the illegal activities of the NSDAP in 1934 and making derogatory comments about high-ranking officials and elected officials in October 1939 and June 1940.
