Johann Friedrich Christoph Bauer

Johann Friedrich Christoph Bauer (born May 2, 1803 in Uffenheim ; † January 24, 1873 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) was a German politician and Protestant theologian.

Bauer, son of a teacher, studied theology at the University of Erlangen from 1821 to 1825 . From 1825 he worked as a vicar and from 1827 as a city ​​pastor . At the same time he published religious writings on social problems. In 1834 he was the first pastor in Marktbreit and in 1839 he became dean in Bamberg.

In 1845, as a deputy of the Protestant clergy, elected in the administrative district of Upper Franconia, he became a member of the Bavarian Estates Assembly , of which he was a member until 1848. From May 31, 1848 to May 25, 1849 he was a member for Windsheim in the Frankfurt National Assembly . He was a member of several committees in the Paulskirche , including the committee for the rules of procedure and the emperor's deputation . From April 13 to May 10, 1849, he served as the first vice-president of the German National Assembly in Frankfurt am Main. In addition, after his work in Bamberg, where he still lived in 1849, from 1855 until his death he was dean in Neustadt an der Aisch. As such, in June and July 1866 he was the first in the city to call for the formation of an aid association for the wounded in the Austro-Prussian War, which lasted until 1871 .
