Johann Friedrich Gotthard Krause

Johann Friedrich Gotthard Krause (born January 1, 1747 in Hohndorf , Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg ; † February 17, 1825 in Nobitz , Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg) was a Lutheran pastor and hymn collector.

Life

Johann Friedrich Gotthard Krause visited the lyceum in Eisenberg . From 1767 he studied Protestant theology in Jena , after which he worked as a private tutor. In 1773 Krause became a teacher at the town school in Eisenberg and in 1791 pastor of the castle church there . From 1795 until the year of his death he was pastor in Nobitz.
