Johann Friedrich Lempe

Johann Friedrich Lempe (born March 7, 1757 in Weida ; † February 6, 1801 in Freiberg ) was professor of mathematics and physics at the Freiberg Bergakademie .

Live and act

Lempe had from 1785 until his death in 1801 the chair of theoretical Mine Art stopped and laid the foundation for scientific research in this area.

Lempe was the author of the journal “Magazin für die Bergbaukunde” published by Walther in Dresden between 1785 and 1799. Thus he was the editor of the first specialist magazine on mining and mining technology in Germany.

Lempe was born with Wilhelmine Friederike. Kessel († 1831) married. His son Friedrich Wilhelm Lempe was also a mathematician and professor in Kielce . His eldest daughter Johanna Caroline Wilhelmina Dorothee was the wife of Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Lindig .
