Johann Gravius (born November 14, 1620 in Osnabrück , † November 3, 1688 in Tübingen ) was a lawyer and professor, rector and prorector at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Johann Gravius ​​completed a law degree in Marburg an der Lahn . He became court master of the Counts of Brandenstein in Hamburg and then practiced for several years in Schleswig-Holstein. During a stay in Speyer , he completed a degree in camera process . In 1653 he enrolled when visiting his brothers in Tübingen, where he became Dr. iur. utr. PhD. From 1653 to 1688 he was a full professor of law. In 1654/55, 1657/58, 1661, 1665, 1669, 1672/73, 1681 and 1686/87 he was rector and 1675/76 prorector of the University of Tübingen. He was also a ducal-Württemberg councilor. His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .
