Gustav Brassert

Johann Gustav Brassert (born September 19, 1790 in Breslau ; † August 16, 1861 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German mining captain and member of parliament .

Johann Gustav came from an old civil servant family, probably originally from Saxony, but who had lived in Silesia for generations. After graduating from high school , he studied in Freiberg , worked at the Oberbergamt Breslau, took part in the Wars of Liberation and then returned to Breslau. In 1817 he was appointed Senior Mining Authority Assessor and technical member of the Oberbergamt Dortmund . In 1822 he was given the title of Oberbergrat and in 1846, the secret mountain ridge. In 1851 he took over the management of the Halle Oberbergamt as mining captain and retired six years later.

Politically, Brassert was an unpaid city councilor in Dortmund. In 1847 he was a member of the First United State Parliament , in 1854 a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the city of Dortmund.

He married Henriette Brassert nee Kortmann. The marriage had ten children. The eldest son was Hermann Brassert , other children were Wilhelm (born January 8, 1922), Gustav and Alexander.
