Johann HA Bleckmann
Johann Heinrich August Bleckmann (born February 26, 1826 in Ronsdorf , † October 19, 1891 in Mürzzuschlag ) was a Rhineland entrepreneur.
Johann HA Bleckmann came from a family from the Bergisches Land that mainly dealt with iron and steel . As a young man, he gained additional knowledge in America. At the age of 35 he settled permanently in Mürzzuschlag. There he acquired the Phönix hammer mill from Prince Sulkowsky in 1862 and between 1863 and 1874 expanded this operation into the integrated steel works Bleckmann Stahlwerke AG . Later the Neuhammer and the Sagmühl were added in the Hönigsberg district , both of which were converted into rolling mills . Around 600 workers were employed at that time.
JHA Bleckmann has been producing blade and tool steel with modern crucible cast steel furnaces since 1864 and with the first Siemens-Martin furnaces from 1874 .
