Johann Heinrich Alting
Johann Heinrich Alting (born February 17, 1583 in Emden , † August 25, 1644 in Groningen ) was a German Reformed theologian .
Heinrich Alting studied in Groningen and in Herborn theology . In 1613 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg and was appointed professor of dogmatics . In 1616 he was director of the local seminary Collegium sapientiae . Together with Abraham Scultetus and Paul Tossanus , he took part in the Dordrecht Synod in 1618 . After Tilly sacked Heidelberg in September 1622, he fled to Holland. In Groningen he was appointed professor of theology in 1627.
Alting's writings on the history of the Palatinate Church, the Augsburg Confession , the Heidelberg Catechism , on dogmatics and supra-church controversies were only published after his death.
