Johann Heinrich Christian Schubart

Johann Heinrich Christian Schubart (born February 28, 1800 in Marburg , † May 1, 1885 in Kassel ) was a German classical philologist .

Life

Schubart studied antiquity in Marburg and Heidelberg . In 1825 he worked for the Heidelberg yearbooks and in 1829 for the Vienna yearbooks . After his return to Hesse, he worked as a secretary at the Kassel State Library . In 1834 he was a co-founder of the " Association for Hessian History and Regional Studies ".

Schubart published numerous articles in the journal for antiquity and in Jahn's yearbooks . Together with Christian Walz, he published a critical Pausanias edition in three volumes in 1838/39 .
