Johann Heinrich Rille

Johann Heinrich Rille (born December 10, 1864 in Brno , † December 14, 1956 in Höflein an der Donau ) was an Austrian dermatologist .

Life

After studying archeology , linguistics and anthropology at the universities of Vienna and Berlin , Rille began studying medicine at the University of Graz . In 1891 he received his doctorate . He then worked as an assistant at clinics in Graz. From 1892 to 1897 Rille worked at the University of Vienna, where he completed his habilitation in 1897 . As the successor to Wladimir Łukasiewicz , he was head of the chair for skin diseases at the University of Innsbruck from 1898 to 1902 . In 1902 he switched to the University of Leipzig , succeeding Gustav Riehl , where he worked as an associate professor until 1904, as an honorary professor until 1919 and as a full professor of dermatology from 1919 to 1933. 1921/1922 he was dean of the faculty. During his term of office, the new building for the dermatological clinic, which was inaugurated in 1931, fell. In 1944 Rille returned to Austria and briefly took over the provisional management of the skin clinic in Innsbruck. He went blind in 1950 as a result of a retinal detachment on both sides .

In 1940 Rille was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

Rille was particularly interested in sexually transmitted diseases .
