Johann Heinrich Ulrich (also Ullrich , born November 6, 1665 in Zurich ; † September 19, 1730 there ;) was a Swiss Reformed pastor and theologian .

Life

The son of the pastor of the same name and Elisabeth Berger attended educational institutions in his place of birth. He studied theology and was ordained in 1687 . He then went on a research trip to Germany , the Netherlands and France . During this trip he learned languages ​​so well that he could preach in French and Italian . In 1689 and 1690, he took a position as private tutor in Bern . In 1691 he became vicar . After the death of the pastor Kaspar Paravicini of a parish in Grönenbach on November 18, 1691, who worked for the parish for 33 years, Ulrich was called there. The Kempten monastery dean did not agree with the election and threatened to deprive Johann Ulrich of his income. After many problems with the community, Ulrich moved back to Zurich in 1699. There he became a deacon and in 1713 pastor of the Fraumünster congregation. In 1715 he was appointed administrator of the reformed Land Peace Fund for rural schools and preachers. He held this position and that of pastor until his death.
