Johann Heinrich Weyhenmayer

Johann Heinrich Weyhenmayer , also Johann Heinrich Weyhenmeyer (born August 4, 1637 in Ulm ; † May 29, 1706 ibid) was a German Lutheran preacher in Ulm and the surrounding area.

Life

His father Ulrich was a businessman in Lauingen and went to Ulm with his grandfather Anton, who had been mayor there, in order to be able to freely live their Lutheran faith. Johann Heinrich attended grammar school and studied theology at the University of Jena from 1655 , where he obtained his master's degree two years later . In 1661 he was offered a theological professorship.

Johann Heinrich Weyhenmayer became a deacon in Leipheim in 1662 and in Langenau in 1667 , pastor in Altheim in 1681 and finally in 1687 preacher at Ulm Minster . In 14 years he gave over 3,000 sermons. Numerous volumes with his spiritual texts and sermons have survived.
