Epitaph Johann Hermann Siricius

Johann Hermann Siricius (* 1687 in Lübeck ; † March 8, 1769 in Travemünde ) was a German Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Siricius, a son of Council Secretary Christoph Siricius , attended the Katharineum in Lübeck until 1707 and studied Protestant theology at the University of Wittenberg until 1713, where his disputation is documented. After two traditional colloquia in Lübeck, presided over by Superintendent Georg Heinrich Götze , he became a preacher to St. Lorenz in Travemünde in 1715 and pastor of this church in 1718, in which his epitaph has been preserved. During his term of office, he erected the baroque high altar made by Hieronymus Hassenberg , donated in 1723 by his cousin Anna Magdalena Rodde , b. Siricius, in memory of her deceased son, as well as the baroque pulpit, donated in 1735 by her widow sister Agneta Catharina Engelhagen geb. Siricius.

His daughter Engel Dorothea married Johann Jacob von Melle in 1746 . His brother was the lawyer Michael Christoph Siricius .
