Johann Hieronymus von Humbracht (born March 19, 1652 in Frankfurt am Main ; † November 6, 1713 ibid) was a Frankfurt politician.

Johann Hieronymus von Humbracht was born as the son of the Frankfurt patrician, councilor, mayor and city ​​schoolmaster Adolf Ernst von Humbracht (1625 to 1693) and his wife Anna Margarethe Stralenberger (1628–1692). Like his father, he was a member of the noble inheritance of the House of Alten Limpurg, which was only accessible to patricians .

Studies and employment

As was customary at the time in circles of the Frankfurt patriciate, Johann Hieronymus studied law in Tübingen , Strasbourg and Helmstedt , but also mathematics. On his return to Frankfurt, he dealt with the measurement of the Frankfurt city ​​limits on the basis of his mathematical knowledge . As a patrician he was due, he turned to urban politics and in 1701 became councilor of his hometown. He was especially interested in caring for the city's poor and promoting the city hospital . In 1708 he was elected junior mayor , in 1712 he became one of the city's aldermen.

In 1686 Johann Hieronymus von Humbracht married Elisabeth von Hünefeld (1663–1703), the daughter of the Imperial Councilor and Imperial Court Councilor Nikolaus Christoph von Hünefeld (1617–1685). From this marriage there were 5 sons and 2 daughters.
