Johann Hintner

Johann Hintner (born November 10, 1834 in Gsies- Pichl, South Tyrol ; † February 15, 1892 in Bozen , South Tyrol) was a painter .

The father was a farmer. An ancestor, the Gschwendt landlord Simon Hintner, was awarded a coat of arms in 1691. Johann's brother Michael Hintner became a carpenter and sculptor.

He was a student of Johann von Schraudolph in Munich. In October 1870 he enrolled in the class of antiquities at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts . Later he was based in Bolzano. As a representative of the late Nazarene school, he painted altar leaves, portraits and genre scenes .
