Johann Jakob Brodbeck

Johann Jakob Brodbeck (born August 13, 1828 in Liestal ; † August 8, 1892 there ) was a Swiss politician and theologian .

Life

Johann Jakob Brodbeck, the son of a shoemaker, graduated from the district school in Liestal . Between 1844 and 1847 he attended the pedagogy in Basel and the canton school in Aarau . He studied theology in Tübingen and Zurich .

From 1850 to 1851 he was a private tutor in Bavaria, from 1852 to 1865 pastor in Buus - Maisprach and from 1865 to 1872 pastor's assistant and rector of the girls' secondary school in Liestal. In Baselbieter Government had from 1872 to 1892, the Department of Education, along with at times also held financial, police and Churches. Both as a theologian and as a politician, Brodbeck was considered a practitioner whose sense of what was feasible came to fruition at a time when the people had long rejected any expansion of the educational system . In addition to his professional activity, Brodbeck also devoted himself to local historical studies.
