Johann Jakob Heusser (born August 22, 1783 in Schönenberg ; † October 29, 1859 in Hirzel , legal resident in Hombrechtikon , from 1818 in Hirzel) was a Swiss doctor .

Life

Johann Jakob Heusser was born on August 22nd 1783 as the son of the farmer and naturopath in the Weisserlen in the community of Schönenberg Hans Jakob Heusser and Katharina, daughter of the farmer in the Weisserlen Johannes Hofmann. After attending the village school in Schönenberg, he trained as a doctor at the Medical-Surgical Cantonal Institute in Zurich from 1805 to 1810 . Heusser, who previously worked as a military doctor in 1809 , passed his exam in 1810 . He then ran his own practice in Hirzel from 1810 until his death in 1859 .

Johann Jakob Heusser, who married the poet Meta Heusser-Schweizer in 1821 and with whom he had six children, including Jakob Christian Heusser and Johanna Spyri , died on October 29, 1859 at the age of 76 in Hirzel.

Act

As a doctor, Johann Jakob Heusser specialized in surgery and mental illness . Heusser, who was considered a "talented surgeon" , carried out amputations , fractures , breast and tumor operations as well as fracture treatments in his practice . To this end, he made a name for himself as a supervisor and examiner for "mentally ill" patients , whom he took into his house for this purpose.
