Johann Jakob Palm (born January 9, 1750 in Schorndorf ; † September 14, 1826 in Münchaurach ) was a German bookseller and teacher and uncle of Johann Philipp Palm (father's brother).

Johann Jakob (Jacob) Palm was a successful university bookseller and publisher in Erlangen , since July 21, 1780 “university citizen”. He was responsible for 586 titles from education , science , law and theology as a publisher. He was a leading member of a group of publishers who tried to drive structural change in the industry from 1788 to 1803. He was the namesake of the still existing Palm & Enke publishing house .

Johann Jakob was married twice and from these marriages had a total of 16 children, at least five of whom died very young. On August 10, 1780 he married Maria Fridolina Glaser (1755– September 17, 1795), on August 10, 1801, her sister Eleonora Dorothea Glaser (August 26, 1749– April 9, 1822). They were daughters of the city syndic of Themar, Johann Friedrich Glaser.

He died as a result of falling out of the wagon when the horse shied. Today a street north of the Philosophical Faculties of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg is named after him.
