Johann Jochen Schmidt
Johann Jochen Michel Schmidt (born September 18, 1763 in Malchin , Mecklenburg-Schwerin ; † 1842 ) was a German organ builder in Malchin.
Life
Johann Schmidt had been with Paul Schmidt in Rostock since 1782 , first as a student, then as a journeyman. In 1790 he worked for Johann Georg Stein junior. at the new organ in Schwerin Cathedral and went into business for himself in Malchin the following year. In 1793 Schmidt received the Mecklenburg organ builder privilege and married.
His son of the same name Johann Jochen Schmidt (1798–1844) worked as an assistant for him. The last work (1834) could be from him.
