Johann Müller (politician, 1924)

Johann Müller (born June 16, 1924 in Großwarasdorf ; † August 16, 2006 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and administrative lawyer. Müller was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1960 to 1968 .

Life

Müller attended the elementary school in Großwarasdorf and then graduated from the Vienna XIII high school, where he passed the Matura in 1942. He then studied law at the University of Vienna , although he served in the Wehrmacht from 1943 to 1945 and became a prisoner of war in Yugoslavia. After returning from the war, he completed his studies in 1948 with the graduation to the Dr. jur. and in the same year founded the “Croatian Academic Club”. He was also a co-founder of the “Croatian Press Association”. Between 1949 and 1967, Müller worked in the service of the Province of Burgenland, where he worked for the Burgenland regional government and the Neusiedl am See district authority. Between 1952 and 1962 he was secretary of Lorenz Karall and Johann Wagner and of the ÖVP state parliament club. Müller was appointed to the Government Council in 1958 and to the Upper Government Council in 1963. From 1974 to 1988 he was also president of the “Croatian Cultural Association” in Burgenland.

Müller represented the ÖVP between May 5, 1960 and April 17, 1968 in the Burgenland state parliament. From 1958 he was a member of the board of BEWAG and between 1962 and 1984 its director. In 1984, Müller retired.

Müller was born the son of the factory worker and blacksmith Johann Müller, while his father worked in Vienna. He grew up speaking the Burgenland-Croatian language and was married.
