Johann Münden

Johann Münden (born August 28, 1564 in Schleswig , † July 8, 1638 in Hamburg ) was a Hamburg senior citizen and councilor .

Origin and family

Münden was a son of the Schleswig mayor Berend Münden the Elder († 1586). His brother Berend Münden the Younger († 1625) was also mayor of Schleswig.

Münden was married twice. His first wife was Elisabeth, daughter of councilor Hermann Moller (vom Adlerklau) († 1610). His second marriage was in 1615 with Anna, daughter of the councilor and bailiff in Bergedorf Joachim Brandt († 1618). A daughter from this second marriage, Margaretha, married the senior elder Jürgen Schrötteringk (1615–1667) in 1641 .

Life

Born in Schleswig, Münden came to Hamburg as a merchant, became a Jurat in the parish of Sankt Jacobi in 1596 and also a finance citizen in the same year . In 1602 he was elected among the Hundred Men who drew up the 11th Hamburg Review , which was completed on October 6, 1603. In 1605 Münden was sworn in the corpse and in the following year after the death of Johann Moller († 1606) his successor as senior elder in the parish of Sankt Jacobi. In 1615 he was President of the College of the Elderly. In 1618 he was elected councilor and held this office for 20 years until his death.
