Johann Maag
Johann Maag (born February 15, 1898 in Waldbüttelbrunn ; † June 26, 1976 there ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
After attending school, Maag completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator and then worked in this profession. From 1916 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1919. He then worked again as a lathe operator, joined the union in 1920 and attended various party and union schools until 1933. Furthermore, he acted as the works council chairman at Koenig & Bauer in Würzburg . After 1945 he was one of the founders of IG Metall in Würzburg, and was elected its first chairman.
Political party
Maag joined the SPD in 1920. After 1945 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Würzburg, at the same time a member of the board of the SPD district of Franconia, and was elected deputy state chairman of the Bavarian Social Democrats in 1959. He was also a member of the SPD party council .
MP
After 1946, Maag was a council member of the Waldbüttelbrunn community and a member of the Würzburg district council . In 1946 he belonged to the constituent state assembly of Bavaria and was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1946 to 1966 . From 1958 to 1966 he was deputy chairman of the Committee on Food and Agriculture. In 1949, Maag was a member of the first federal assembly as a delegate of the Bavarian state parliament .
Public offices
Maag served from December 18, 1950 to December 14, 1954 as State Secretary in the State Ministry for Agriculture and Forests in the government of the Free State of Bavaria led by Prime Minister Hans Ehard .
