Johann Matthias Menninger

Johann Matthias Menninger (* around 1733 in Komorn ? † January 15, 1793 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

Nothing is known about Menninger's childhood and youth, nor is his education.

In Baden near Vienna in Lower Austria , Menninger was hired by J. Schulz for his troop around 1761. In 1766 his employer died after a short illness and Menninger married his widow only a short time later. He also took over the management of the troupe, in which Karl von Marinelli and Johann Joseph La Roche now also played.

For the summer Menninger negotiated firm engagements in Baden, for the winter tours through larger cities such as Brno , Pressburg or Graz were planned.

In 1769 Menninger and his troupe appeared for the first time in the Leopoldstadt Theater .

It rests in the Sankt Marxer Friedhof in Vienna.
