Johann Moritz von Heßler (* November 21, 1677 ; † March 4, 1741 ) was the Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Privy Councilor , Hereditary Marshal Administrator and Deputy Chief Tax Director. He was addressed as an excellence and was the owner of the Vitzenburg manor . He was also the court lord of the villages of Liederstädt , Pretitz , Gölbitz and Kleinwangen .

He came from the Klosterhäseler line of the von Heßler family and was the son of the Saxon war commissioner and inspector of the Pforta state school Georg Friedrich von Heßler zu Vitzenburg and Ursula Elisabeth von Schönberg (1658–1721).

Like Heinrich von Brühl , with whom he was in friendly contact until the end of his life, he began his career as a chamberlain at the Saxon court in Dresden . August the Strong recognized his skill and appointed him after the death of Lieutenant General von Benckendorff in 1731 as administrator of the Electoral Saxon Hereditary Marshal. In October of the same year he was given a place in the state parliament of Electoral Saxony, where he represented the upper tax revenue. Then on February 17th he was appointed to the Privy Council .

After his brother Georg Heinrich von Heßler died during a cure in Karlsbad in Bohemia and was buried in Johanngeorgenstadt , he became the sole owner of the Vitzenburg manor. Other brothers were Captain Georg Rudolph von Heßler, Lieutenant Johann (Hans) Georg von Heßler and, as the eldest brother, Christoph Moritz von Heßler († April 2, 1726).

On September 8, 1716, he concluded an inheritance settlement with his brothers and cousins .

On November 6, 1708, he married Sophia Elisabeth von Breitenbauch from Ortisei, who died on April 9, 1712. On March 28, 1714, he married Henrietta Margaretha von Zaschwitz from the Siegelsdorf house in Naumburg (Saale) . His second wife survived him by a few years. The marriage resulted in the son Friedrich Moritz von Hessler, who was under the age of majority when his father died in 1741. The regimental commander of the Electorate of Saxony, George Christoph von Hessler, was another son of his. His daughter Friederica Sophia married the later major general Friedrich von Berlepsch auf Buhla .

At the Rentei at Vitzenburg Castle there are two heraldic cartouches with rocaille - shaped alliance coats of arms above the door and two windows , one of which comes from Johann Moritz von Heßler and Henriette Margaretha von Zaschwitz and does not have a year.
