George Christoph von Hessler

George Christoph von Heßler († November 2, 1774 in Chemnitz ) was an Electorate of Saxony colonel of the infantry and commander of the Prince Maxmilian Infantry Regiment, knight of the order Pour le Mérite and manor owner in the Electorate of Saxony .

Life

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Hessler and was one of the sons of Johann Moritz von Hessler . Together with his younger brother, after the death of their father, he received the manor Vitzenburg and in 1757 was lent with the manor Kirchscheidungen .

After completing his school education, he embarked on a career in the military. As a captain in the Roman Infantry Regiment, he was stationed initially in Wurzen , then in Grimma , later in Pegau and finally in Merseburg . In 1747 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the Guard on foot and to major in 1754. In 1764 he was a colonel and commander in the Prince Maximilian Infantry Regiment, whose chief and namesake was the underage Prince Maximilian of Saxony . As regimental commander he took u. a. participated in the Seven Years War .

George Christoph von Heßler was born with Johanna Henrietta. Married Freiin von Kottwitz. He died on the morning of November 2, 1774 in Chemnitz and was buried on November 7, 1774 in the local Johannisfriedhof . He left the four sons Johann Moritz von Heßler (born January 3, 1739 in Wurzen), herzogl, as heirs. Weimar-Eisenach'scher Privy Councilor, Curt von Heßler (born March 26, 1740 in Wurzen), ducal. Braunschweig-Lüneburg. Prime Lieutenant, Rudolph Adam von Heßler (born February 18, 1755 in Merseburg) and Friedrich Heinrich von Heßler (born October 27, 1756 in Merseburg). The latter lived in Thum in the Saxon Erzgebirge from 1790 at the latest , where he worked as governor of the Erzgebirge district and noble district tax collector. Later he went to Silesia.

Georg Christoph's eldest daughter Magdalena Sophie von Heßler married Georg Heinrich von Bruneck, the Saxon chamberlain and chief forest and game master at Schlettau Castle . His widow died in Chemnitz in 1792.
