Johann Pabst

Johann Pabst (born January 24, 1916 in Sankt Lorenzen im Mürz Valley , Styria , † July 15, 1999 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Johann Pabst enjoyed a simple school education. After attending elementary school in Sankt Lorenzen from 1923 to 1930, he completed basic agricultural training, most recently in 1935 at the rural community education center in the Lower Austrian blind market .

Pabst gained his first public experience in 1930, when he was elected a member of the Reich Association of Austrian Catholic Youth .

1937 Pabst was first a soldier in the army , and in 1938, after the annexation of Austria , a member of the armed forces . He did military service until 1945. After the Second World War , he returned to his learned profession and became a farmer .

In 1945 Pabst moved into the local council of Sankt Lorenzen as a member of the ÖVP . He then worked in this role for 35 years until 1980. In 1961 he was sworn in as a member of the Styrian Landtag , to which he was then to belong until 1970. He last moved to the Federal Council in Vienna for the ÖVP in May 1970 . As a federal councilor he looked after the interests of Styria until October 1975.

Pabst also held some leadership positions within his party. From 1945 to 1949 he was local party leader of the ÖVP for Sankt Lorenzen. In 1957 he was elected chairman of the ÖVP district party for the Bruck an der Mur district , which is now part of the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district. Pabst held this position until 1973.
