Johann Philipp Mihm (* around 1710 presumably in Fulda ; † after 1774 ) was a court sculptor in Kirchheimbolanden . He worked mainly in Saarbrücken under the baroque master builder Friedrich Joachim Stengel .

Life

Nothing is known about Mihm's early life. On October 1, 1745 Mihm was appointed Nassau court sculptor and plasterer in Kirchheimbolanden. In 1754 he worked on the Basikilia St. Johann (today Saarbrücken ) and created, among other things, a baroque tympanum above the portal, which shows two women as symbols for Ecclesia and the synagogue . Between 1759 and 1760 he worked on the decor for the fountain on St. Johanner Markt, in 1762 he worked on the construction of the Reformed Church in Saarbrücken. In 1772 he created the monument to Prince Wilhelm Heinrich in the Saarbrücken Castle Church . In 1773 he was commissioned to add two more to the ten caryatids created by Carlo Luca Pozzi in the Ludwigskirche in Saarbrücken, and in the following year he created several herms and two coat of arms emblems on the north and south sides of the church. Around 1790 he worked at Ludwigsberg Palace in Saarbrücken, after which his track is lost.
