Johann Sedlmayr

Johann Sedlmayr (born April 9, 1846 in Munich ; † November 24, 1900 there ) was a brewery owner, Bavarian councilor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Sedlmayr was the son of Gabriel Sedlmayr the Younger, the owner of the Spaten brewery in Munich. He attended four classes of Latin school and then took technical subjects at the polytechnic school and university. In 1874, he and his brothers Carl and Anton Sedlmayr took over their father's brewery.

On July 15, 1880, when the Bavarian Brewers Association was founded, he was elected the association's first president. He acted as such until 1900. In addition, he was a member of the council of municipal representatives and a member of the Munich Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

From 1884 to 1890 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Upper Bavaria 1 Munich I ( Altstadt , Lehel , Maxvorstadt ) and the National Liberal Party .
