Johann Seger

Johann Seger (* autumn 1582 in Greifswald ; † March 12, 1637 in Wittenberg ) was a poeta laureatus and rector of the city school in Wittenberg.

Life

Johann Seger first attended school in Greifswald and was later sent to the grammar school in Stralsund on the advice of Mayor Georg Corswant . Then he studied philosophy and theology in Greifswald for seven years and then worked as a private tutor.

In addition, Seger wrote poems through which he said Wolgast struck Hofgerichtsdirektor Reimar Seltrecht who as imperial Hofpfalzgraf already in 1607 Andreas Helwig was crowned. Seltrecht also crowned Johann Seger as a poet in the summer of 1612.

In 1614 Seger went to Frankfurt (Oder) and from there to Wittenberg, where he became vice rector and master's degree one year later. 1622 Seger was appointed rector of the city school in Wittenberg. He held this office for 15 years. He was hit in the middle of class and died a day later.
