Johann Ulrich Stähelin
Johann Ulrich Stähelin (* 1802 in St. Gallen ; † after 1874 ) was a Swiss painter who worked in Munich .
Life
Johann Ulrich Stähelin, son of a mathematics teacher, was originally supposed to learn the flasking trade. But since he was considered the best student of the drawing school, he was able to study history painting at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich from December 4, 1824 . After completing his studies, he worked as a portrait and landscape painter in Munich . He also painted biblical scenes. In search of lucrative jobs, he moved across the country as a “traveling painter for cheap fees and food”.
