Johann Wöckherl

Johann Wöckherl (* around 1594 (?); † May 4, 1660 in Vienna ) was an Austrian organ builder . Its organ in the Franciscan Church in Vienna from 1642 is the oldest playable organ in Austria, the organ in Sopron from 1633 the oldest preserved in Hungary .

Life

There is hardly any historical news about Johann Wöckherl's person. The oldest mention of repairs in Vienna is from 1629; he died in Vienna in 1660.

The organs of the Franciscan Church in Vienna and St. Georg in Sopron have been preserved , as well as brochures ascribed to them in Pöllaberg in Lower Austria and Skalica in Slovakia, here in bold.
