Act
Pope John XXII. commissioned the Osnabrück Bishop Engelbert II. von Weyhe on June 5, 1320 to accept Johann von Braunschweig into the Mainz cathedral chapter . On June 17, 1325 Johannes renounced his paternal inheritance in exchange for an annual pension of 30 marks in favor of his brothers Heinrich, Ernst and Wilhelm. Since his father had the right to fill the most important benefices at Alexandri-Stift, the latter provided his son with the lucrative office of provost there. From 1341 Johann was provost of the cathedral in Halberstadt. He was buried in the collegiate church of St. Alexander in Einbeck. The grave slab is still preserved.
