Johann von Metzburg (born January 26, 1815 in Vienna ? † June 28, 1889 in Gresten ) was an Austrian civil servant.

Life

Johann Nepomuk, Freiherr von Metzburg, was a son of the President of the Army Audit Office Commission Johann Nepomuk von Metzburg from his marriage to Antonie Wadawska (1786-1852). After studying law at the University of Vienna , he entered the civil service. In 1854 he was kk advice from the Serbian Banat governor's office and came in the following years as Councilor for kk state government to Krakow , then in the same capacity for Moravian governor's office after Brno , whose vice-president he became. After his retirement he lived in Salzburg. He spent the last years of his life with his niece, the poet Josefine von Knorr , at Stiebar Castle near Gresten, where he died unmarried on June 28, 1889.

After the death of his two older brothers Heinrich, who in 1860 was childless marriage with Ottilie von Colonius as kk Rittmeister, and Franz, who died in 1859 as legation secretary, he was the boss and only living male offspring of the baron family Metzburg , which with his death in 1889 went out.
