Johanna Lindsey

Helen Johanna Lindsey (born March 10, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main , † October 27, 2019 in Nashua , New Hampshire ) was an American writer . Along with Catherine Coulter, she is one of the world's most widely read authors of historical romance novels , especially Bodice Ripper novels. All of her books made it to the New York Times bestseller list, and many even reached # 1. Lindsey was the most prolific writer for New York-based Avon .

life and work

Johanna Lindsey was born as the daughter of a US soldier in Germany, where her father was stationed at the time. After her father died, she and her mother moved to Hawaii . In 1970 she married Ralph and became a housewife and mother of three sons: Alfred, Joseph and Garret. After the death of her husband, she did not remarry and lived in New England until her death in December 2019 . Lindsey wrote her first book, Captive Bride, in 1977. The book met with great success and she continued to write.

Lindsey's books sold over 60 million copies worldwide (2008) and have already been translated into 12 languages.

Her most popular books include the Stories of the Malory Family , which, although read independently, often relate to previous events. In addition to her historical romance novels, Lindsey also wrote a few futuristic romance novels.
