The Johannes Rau Research Association is an umbrella organization of non-university research institutes in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Foundation and goals

The association, based in Düsseldorf , was founded on April 2, 2014 as a non-profit, registered association . Founding members were 13 scientific institutes and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, represented by the Ministry of Science . The founding board consists of Dieter Bathen ( Institute for Energy and Environmental Technology , University of Duisburg Essen ) as chairman of the board, Ramona Fels as deputy chairwoman and head of the office and Uwe Schneidewind ( Wuppertal Institute , Bergische Universität Wuppertal ). The office is located in the building of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Düsseldorf. The joint tasks include research cooperation, the promotion of young scientists, public relations and regular evaluation of the member institutes.
