Johannes Althausen (real name Johannes Curt Theodor Althausen ; born January 18, 1929 in Germany , † November 15, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian and church historian .

Life

Johannes Curt Theodor Althausen studied Protestant theology after obtaining his university entrance qualification . During his studies at the Martin Luther University in Halle in 1952 he got caught up in the dispute between the GDR government and the youth groups of the Protestant churches, in which he worked on a voluntary basis. He was arrested along with others on charges of subversive activity. After these anti-church attacks were corrected by the so-called " New Course " in June 1953, the investigations were discontinued and no charges were brought.

After successfully completing his studies, he was accepted into the vicariate of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg . After serving as a vicar, he was ordained a pastor . During this time he prepared his thesis before a church historical theme and became a doctor of theology doctorate . From 1983 to 1993 he was director of the Paulinum Protestant training center in Berlin.

He was a member of the GDR regional committee of the Christian Peace Conference .

When the "Berliner Gesellschaft für Missionsgeschichte eV" was founded in 1994, he took on the role of chairman, which he held until 2000.
