Johannes Brüning

Johannes Brüning (born February 11, 1590 in Osnabrück , † September 27, 1648 in Alfeld (Leine) ) was a German Lutheran theologian, consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the general diocese of Alfeld .

Life

Brüning completed his studies in theology in Helmstedt and Wittenberg , which he completed with a master's degree.

After brief activities as rector in Lemgo and Bielefeld and as pastor in Vallstedt , he became superintendent of Lichtenberg and Steinbrück in 1617 . In 1624 he became the first pastor and general superintendent in Alfeld (Leine) . During the Thirty Years War he was expelled by the Catholics in 1630, but was able to return to office in 1631. After the restitution of the Hildesheim Monastery in 1643, he was appointed a member of the newly formed consistory in Hildesheim .
