Johannes Brachtendorf

Johannes Brachtendorf (* 1958 in Bochum ) is a German philosopher .

Life

He studied philosophy, Catholic theology , musicology and art history in Bochum, Berlin , Regensburg , Vienna and Tübingen . In 1992 he became an assistant at the Chair for Basic Philosophical Questions in Theology at the University of Tübingen . From 1995 to 1997 he was a visiting scholar at the University of Notre Dame . In 1998 he was appointed private lecturer at the Philosophical Department of the University of Tübingen. He taught as a visiting professor at the Institute for Christian Philosophy at the University of Innsbruck in 2000/2001 . He was appointed to the Endowed Chair in the Thought of Augustine at Villanova University in 2002 . From 2003 to 2004 he held the chair for the history of philosophy and philosophical-theological propaedeutics at the Paderborn Theological Faculty . Since 2004 he has been professor for basic philosophical questions in theology at the University of Tübingen.

His main research interests are metaphysics , philosophy of mind and philosophy of religion .
