Johannes Brenz (the younger)
Johannes Brenz (the younger) , Latinized Brentius , (born August 6, 1539 in Schwäbisch Hall , † January 29, 1596 in Hirsau ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian from Württemberg .
Johannes Brenz was the son of the reformer of the imperial city Schwäbisch Hall and the Duchy of Württemberg Johannes Brenz and his first wife Margarethe Gräter (1501–1548).
He was matriculated on November 19, 1552 in Tübingen. There he was on September 25, 1555 Baccelaureus artium, on February 16, 1558 Magister, on February 5, 1562 doctor of theology and associate professor of theology. In 1590 he became the third full professor of theology at the University of Tübingen . From 1591 he was prelate in Hirsau , 1591–1596 abbot of Hirsau and councilor of the city.
He married Maria Barbara Rösch on May 4, 1563 in Neubulach ; the couple had 13 children together.
